‘Wonder’ essay
In the book ‘Wonder’, Palacio uses the first point of view to tell the story.
R.J Palacio used first person in the chapter called ‘Lunch’. For example, “I hate the way I eat I know how weird it looks. I had a surgery to fix my cleft palate when I was a baby and in a sick and leek lift surgery when I was 4 but I still have a hole in the roof of my mouth.”
The second example I found in the book is,
“I know I'm not an ordinary 10-year-old kid. I mean, sure, I do ordinary things. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball. I have an Xbox. Stuff like that makes me ordinary.
I guess. And I feel ordinary. Inside. But I know ordinary kids don't make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. I know ordinary kids don’t get stared at wherever they go.

Great work Jayden. being able to cite examples from a text to support your assertions or conclusions is an excellent skill to develop. This shows that you have engaged with the text and have a good understanding of first person narrative. do you think that first person narrative makes the story more compelling? I look forward to your next blog post. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteJayden, your case about 'wonder' being in first person is what I think is brillient. Good luck
